Sangeet Gurugriha

Hindustani Classical Music

Hindustani Classical Music is the North Indian stream of Indian classical tradition,  — it is a living journey of the soul. Rooted in the eternal ragas and talas, it blossoms through improvisation and emotional depth. Born from the sacred chants of the Vedas, enriched by Persian and Mughal artistry, it now thrives as a radiant stream of vocal and instrumental expression. To embrace it is to awaken discipline, devotion, and the boundless joy of creativity.

A Journey of Sanctity

  • Swar Sadhana Begin with daily practice of the seven notes (Sa–Re–Ga–Ma–Pa–Dha–Ni–Sa). Use a tanpura or app for pitch support. This builds sur (pitch accuracy) and vocal steadiness.

  • Breath Control Train diaphragmatic breathing to sustain long notes and phrases. Exercises like Anulom-Vilom pranayama and meend (gliding between notes) strengthen voice stability.

  • Alankars Introduce note patterns in rhythm to develop flexibility. Start slow, then gradually increase speed while maintaining pitch accuracy.

  • Raga Practice Teach beginner-friendly ragas like Yaman, Bhupali, and Kafi. Focus on aaroh–avroh (ascent–descent) and simple bandish compositions. Encourage students to feel the bhava (emotion) of each raga.

TESTIMONIALS

I have been learning Kathak from past few months in Sangeet Gurugriha. This is my first exposure to any form of classical dancing and the way it is being taught here from basics is very commendable. The amount of effort which is being put by the mentor in correcting and fine tuning our steps is really appreciated. The teacher taught us to not only focus on the foot steps but also to write notations and read books at home. Also the curriculum is being covered in time. I really thank the academy and Sarita Mam for shaping our journey ahead

I am having a pretty good experience with my Kathak learning in this institute. Soma M'am and Biswajit Sir work very hard in keeping it running with all facilities and events. Our new classes have good floor and full front end mirror, very spacious too. Events are organised twice a year. My batch Kathak teacher - Priyanka M'am places her heart in teaching us. We all have improved a lot under her direction.

One of the best kathak learning class I have come across. I have been in search of a good kathak learning academy for past 2yrs nothing seem to work fine either due to distance else due to unreasonable fees. That is when I came across Sangeet Gurugriha, A very good place for all the aspirants interested in following ur passion
